Dramatic tenor Zinoviy Babii was born in the village

Pidsadky, Lviv region, Ukraine in 1935

He finished Lviv music college in 1954.

After college Zinoviy Babii studied in Kyiv conservatory (1954-57) and from 1957 until 1960 he performed at Kyiv Opera.

From 1960 until 1963 Zinoviy Babii performed at Lviv Opera

After International Vocal competirion in Bulgaria he was invited to Italy but it was Soviet time and...

of course he was not allower to go to Italy.

From 1963 until 1978 Zinoviy Babii performed at Minsk Opera and gave many concerts with Minsk Philarmonic (1978-84)

Zinoviy Babii's repertoire: Don Jose (Carmen), Radames (Aida),

Caio (Pagliacci), Pincerton (madam Batterfly), Cavaradossi (Tosca), Manrico (Il Trovatore), Rodolfo (La Bohema), The Duke (Rigoletto), Othello, Hermann (Queen of Spades), Andriy (Zaporozhets beyound Denube), Petro (Natalka Poltavka).

He was a real dramatic tenor with an evenly attractive timbre.

His low range had baritone-like richness and his high range was bouth powerful and brilliant.

Zinoviy Babii passed away in 1984.
